Tim Lincecum Black Jersey .C. -- Torontos Richard Jung shot a bogey-free round of 7-under 65 Tuesday to take the lead after the first day of the Canadian Junior Boys Golf Championship. Jung had seven birdies at Richmond Country Club, including his first two holes and three of his last four. "Fantastic is all I can say," Jung said. "I was just focused out there hitting fairways and greens and when I made a mistake I was able to recover pretty quickly." Torontos Albin Choi was one shot behind. He bogeyed his first hole but made an impressive late charge with eagles on 17 and 18. "I hit it bad off the tee but when the ball was in play my approaches to the green were good," explained Choi. "I only had two bogeys today, so I think I got the most out of my round." Wilson Bateman of Spruce Grove, Alta., was alone in third place at 4-under 68. He had three birdies on his front nine and another on the back, but he also had a double-bogey on the sixth hole. Calgarys Scott Malo, Greg MacAuley of Stratford, P.E.I., and Raoul Menard of Ange-Gardien, Que., were all four shots off the lead. Defending champion Mitch Sutton of London, Ont., is tied for 27th at 2-over 74. Only 14 of the 155 golfers at the tournament shot at least par Tuesday. In inter-provincial team championship play, defending champion Ontario combined for a team total of 214 (2 under) to take a six-stroke lead over Nova Scotia, which came in at 220 (4 over). Alberta sat third with 223 (7 over).

Buchholz (10-4) yielded just three hits and three walks while striking out four in 6 2/3 scoreless innings. The 25-year-old right-hander has pitched to a 1.62 earned-run average over his last eight starts. Daniel Bard recorded four outs behind Buchholz, and Jonathan Papelbon closed out Bostons 8-1 homestand in the ninth. David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis each drove in a run, while Dustin Pedroia, who had the game-winning single on Saturday, went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored for the Sox, whose six-game win streak is their longest of the season. Hiroki Kuroda (6-5) was solid in seven innings of work, giving up a mere two runs on six hits and a walk to go with nine strikeouts for Los Angeles, which has dropped four straight. Buchholz wiggled out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the first by fanning Garret Anderson and getting Casey Blake on a comebacker to the mound. Russell Martins throw to second got past the bag, and with the infield shifted for Ortiz, Pedroia alertly advanced to an unoccupied third.
