The plane, owned by Mexico City-based Aerotransportes de Carga Union, had taken off from Mexico City. Charred and smoking wreckage was spread across an area at least 330 feet (100 meters) across. The nose of the plane and both wings were torn from the fuselage and lay in the middle of the two-lane road.
